Memorial Day is of course in remmberance of those who’ve died in service to their country, but it also serves as the unofficial start of the season here on Folly Beach.

Tournament Details
Prize categories include Biggest 3 by Weight, Biggest youth catch (12 & under), and Best 5 Fish Total Weight
An adult chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under.
Tournaments are held rain or shine.
Each participant is only eligible to win in one category.
Smoking, vaping or tobacco use is prohibited at Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission owned and operated facilities, programs and events.

July 4th Fireworks
Celebrate Independence Day with a fun and festive Fireworks Show! The show will begin at dusk and will shoot from the West side of the island, a few blocks from the pier.
Viewing is available from all along the beach and even throughout Center Street. Please remember to celebrate responsibly and to respect the beach and our wildlife by removing trash and anything else you bring with you.

Ahoy, friends! Our popular Folly Beach Mermaids & Mateys Event is back the weekend of October 4 & 5, 2025. Round up the buccaneers, strap on a tail (if that’s your thing), and celebrate the sea and all its treasures with us. Ahoy, friends!
The weekend will include our Salty Saturday Center Street Closure Event featuring food and drinks, arts, crafts, and fashion vendors, live music on multiple stages, a huge kids area, and more! On Sunday, join us on the beach for some healthy competition in the Sand Sculpting Contest!
Moonlight Mixers
Dance the night away under the stars at the Folly Beach Pier during our one of the Moonlight Mixers!
Advance tickets are $10 per person. Day-of tickets are $15 per person if the event hasn't sold out. On-site tickets, if available, will only be sold via credit card. Children 3 and under are free and do not require a ticket.
Earth Month Celebration

Shes on Edge February Skate

The longest-running annual event on Folly Beach, Sea & Sand, features an artisan & food-focused street closure event full of fun, music, and ocean breezes.
Save the Light Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk
A half-marathon and 5K to support the preservation of the Morris Island Lighthouse by Save The Light, a grassroots non-profit organization that formed in 2000 to save the Morris Island Lighthouse from being lost to the sea. Both races are USATF-certified and start and finish near the Folly Beach Pier. Half Marathon is a run only event.

Seabirding at Folly Beach Pier
In South Carolina, winter months bring a variety of oceangoing birds that can be hard to find during other times of year. The Folly Beach Pier extends over 1,000 feet out over the ocean, an amazing vantage point for spotting sea ducks, seabirds, loons, grebes, and more that overwinter on the Atlantic. Bring your binoculars and join our experts as we look for the tell-tale shapes and flight patterns of species such as Black Scoter, Northern Gannet, Red-throated Loon, Horned Grebe, and much more.
